Friends of OCS

In 2014, Dan Hendrickson, a rocket scientist with a huge heart for the children and ministry of Olympic Christian School, and a group of dedicated donors co-founded Friends of Olympic Christian School to raise funds for special projects at OCS. The funds were used to finance teacher and classroom needs and capital improvement projects. Past projects include building the Durdan-Meyer playground Pavilion and funding building maintenance projects, such as painting, roofing, insulating, skirting, new window installation, and replacing electrical panels. The fund met many teacher and classroom needs; some examples include classroom projectors and “Science on Wheels.”

This non-profit corporation will continue to honor the memory of Dan Hendrickson.

Mission

Funds raised through FOCS efforts will be added to OCS assets and used exclusively for capital projects*. These projects include upgrading existing facilities, constructing new ones, acquiring new learning tools such as computers or lab equipment, or assisting teachers with special educational needs.

*The funds cannot be used for day-to-day operating expenses.

Vision

  • To provide financial support allowing OCS to provide a quality Christian Education, now and many years into the future, for as many children as God brings through the school doors.

  • To provide an avenue for contributions and outreach for the Christian community and churches on the Olympic Peninsula to support Christian Education at OCS.

Use of Funds

OCS can request FOCS funds via a written grant process, adhering to FOCS's mission and vision. By default, 50% of new FOCS funds are allocated for FOCS projects, except for specific fundraising drives. FOCS Board must follow the mission and remain loyal to its donors.

Organization

FOCS is registered as a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation under the National Christian Foundation (NCF). The FOCS Chair or administrators will have one member as an OCS Board Member, and they will seek out qualified individuals to support the FOCS mission. All OCS Board members will serve as trustees for FOCS. Fundraising programs will be briefed in advance to the OCS Board for approval, ensuring consistency with OCS's values.
