Playground Rules

  1. No overly physical behaviors: hitting, pushing, tripping, wrestling, throwing, etc.

  2. Food is only allowed up at the picnic table area. Please make sure that students throw their garbage away. If food or garbage is left behind, take note which grades were out at that time. No food allowed on the playground.

  3. No sitting on top of the picnic tables.

  4. No leaning, touching, or climbing the fence.

  5. Balls are to be treated with respect. No kicking basketballs or volleyballs.

  6. If a ball goes over the fence, send one student through the gate to retrieve the ball.

  7. One child per gender in the bathroom at a time (unless there is an emergency in particular with younger grades.)

  8. Students must use the stairs, do not walk on the hill.

  9. No hanging from or touching the soccer goals. No touching nets unless retrieving the ball.

  10. Only grades 3-8 may go on top of monkey bars.

  11. No swinging side-to-side, twisting, or spinning on the swingsets.

Supervisor Expectations

If you have any questions, please talk to our office staff.

  1. We ask that all parents and visitors adhere to the OCS dress code.

  2. Arrive 5-10 minutes before the start of recess. You must sign in at the office and get a badge and whistle.

  3. Please make sure you are always paying attention to the children. Keep chatting with other supervisors to a minimum.

  4. Walk around the playground and field, always listening and watching students.

  5. When a student is having a hard time following the rules, have them sit out for a reasonable amount of time. If disobedience continues, please send the student to the office.

  6. When an injury occurs, send them to the office.

  7. If there are any other issues that you don’t feel equipped to deal with, please call the office.

  8. Blow the whistle at the end of recess. Students are expected to line up quietly until their teacher comes to pick them up.

  9. When recess is over, return to the office to sign out, return your badge and whistle, and log service hours. Failure to log your own hours will result in insufficient service hours for the quarter and your account may be charged.
